Glaucoma TreatmentIf you’ve been diagnosed with glaucoma, The team of ophthalmologists at Gulf Coast Eye Institute will use an optic nerve evaluation, visual field testing and pressure measurements to evaluate the stage of your glaucoma and to determine the best method of its treatment.

Your treatment plan will be tailored to your diagnosis and may include a combination of specialized eye drops, laser surgery and microsurgery. While there is no cure for glaucoma, the treatment goal is to preserve your current level of eyesight by reducing pressure on the optic nerve.

Vision that has been lost, unfortunately, cannot be recovered, but if glaucoma is detected early and patients follow their Gulf Coast Eye Institute’s regular treatment schedule, most can expect to maintain adequate vision. However, it is important to understand that despite aggressive treatment and compliance with the doctor’s instructions, some patients will continue to experience vision loss.
