Dr. Hamzah Khalaf will complete his retina fellowship training at Gulf Coast Eye Institute in July of 2018. He and his family relocated to the Rio Grande Valley region almost two years ago and are loving the lifestyle and community. Dr. Khalaf is delighted to serve as an ophthalmologist at Gulf Coast Eye Institute. “I enjoy providing people with the best quality of life possible in terms of great vision,” said Dr. Khalaf, who focuses on retinal diseases, research and retina surgery. “I see a lot of patients with diabetes and the vision challenges that often accompany that disease, and my goal is to stabilize and improve their vision so they can enjoy the things they like to do.” Dr. Khalaf graduated from Kent State University in Ohio before earning his medical degree at Northeast Ohio Medical University and a residency in ophthalmology at SUMMA Health System in Akron, Ohio. He joined Gulf Coast Eye Institute in 2016. When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Khalaf enjoys spending time with his growing family. A resident of McAllen, Dr. Khalaf sees patients at the McAllen and Brownsville locations of Gulf Coast Eye Institute.
