Dr. McMillin’s career in ophthalmology has evolved and grown alongside Gulf Coast Eye Institute (previously Valley Retina Institute) as most of his professional career has taken place there. Since 1990, Dr. McMillin has had the privilege of serving generations of Rio Grande families.
Dr. McMillin is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in glaucoma. He received his medical degree from University of Texas HSC in San Antonio, completed an ophthalmology residency at Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health Sciences University and received his fellowship training in glaucoma at the University of California at San Francisco’s Department of Ophthalmology.
Dr. McMillin is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is widely published in his field and has taught and presented on the subjects of glaucoma detection and management and diabetic eye disease. Dr. McMillin sees patients at Gulf Coast Eye Institute locations serving the upper and lower Rio Grande Valley, including Harlingen and McAllen.
