LASIK reshapes the cornea as a permanent solution, however, an adolescent's vision is still changing and developing.

LASIK is FDA approved for those 18 years of age or older.
Vision is something that changes as we grow and age. This is especially so during our adolescent years. LASIK is a permanent procedure, however, our vision will continue to change over time and is best suited to those that are past these significant developmental years.

Are you currently pregnant or nursing?
It is not recommended that women who are pregnant or nursing get LASIK surgery.
Hormones in pregnant or nursing mothers can cause changes to vision as well as the current optical prescription.
A woman should wait 3-6 months after stopping nursing before considering LASIK.
Do you currently have any medical or eye related conditions that may prevent you from receiving LASIK surgery?

Dry Eye Disease
Each patient is different and so are the circumstances. Be sure to discuss any conditions or potential issues that may stand in the way of your LASIK procedure.

Prescriptions can fluctuate for a variety of reasons. Contact lens wear, diabetic blood sugar changes and normal aging, can cause your prescription to change over time..
